Ingredients
Scale
For the Potatoes:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 lb baby red and yellow potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
- 3 large garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Steak:
- 1 1/4 lb sirloin steak, cut into one-inch cubes
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prep Potatoes: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter with 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the diced baby potatoes, minced garlic, chopped parsley, thyme, rosemary, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 6 minutes until the potatoes are tender yet firm. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then remove the potatoes from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook Steak: Discard any burnt garlic and herbs from the skillet. Increase the heat to high and add the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil along with the remaining butter. Add the sirloin steak cubes and sear them for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally until they develop a rich brown crust and are cooked to your preference. Season with salt and pepper.
- Combine and Serve: Return the cooked potatoes to the skillet with the steak and stir to combine. Cook together for 1 minute to heat through and blend the flavors. Serve hot immediately for best taste.
Notes
- Do not overcrowd the skillet when cooking the steak in order to achieve proper searing and browning.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes according to your desired level of spice.
- Use fresh herbs for the best flavor infusion; dried herbs can be substituted but reduce quantity by half.
- Cut potatoes uniformly to ensure even cooking.
- To keep steak bites tender, avoid overcooking; medium-rare to medium is ideal.
