Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 6 ounces Egg Noodles
Beef
- 1 pounds Ground Beef
Sauce
- ¼ cup Butter
- ¼ cup Flour
- 1 cup Beef Broth
- 1 ¼ cup Milk
- ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
- ½ teaspoon Onion Powder
- 1 teaspoon Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- ¼ cup Sour Cream
Instructions
- Cook the noodles: Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook egg noodles according to package directions until tender. Drain and set aside.
- Brown the beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until fully browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat, transfer beef to a plate, and set aside.
- Make the roux: In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to form a roux without lumps.
- Add beef broth: Gradually pour in beef broth while whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Continue whisking until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add milk: Slowly whisk in milk, stirring over medium heat until sauce thickens again and becomes smooth and creamy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season the sauce: Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt, mixing evenly to distribute flavors.
- Combine ingredients: Reduce heat to low. Add cooked egg noodles and browned ground beef back into the skillet. Stir until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Finish with sour cream: Gently stir in sour cream until fully incorporated, enriching the sauce with a tangy creaminess.
- Serve: Serve hot, paired with your favorite vegetable or garlic toast for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use wide egg noodles for the best texture, but any pasta up to 6 ounces will work well.
- Do not use more than 6 ounces of pasta to ensure enough sauce coats the noodles.
- Doubling the recipe is recommended; it reheats well and is great for leftovers.
- For a lighter version, use low-fat milk and sour cream.
- If you prefer, add mushrooms or onions for additional flavor.
